Greetings From The East,

Welcome at Alamo Lodge # 44! My installation as Worship Master of Alamo Lodge # 44 provided me with one of the most exciting and important nights of my life. I want to thank my installing officers who came to perform the ceremony and the grand array of Lodge officers who were installed with me for the coming masonic year. At the same time, I want to remind all the brothers of Alamo Lodge and our brothers in the craft of the challenges ahead of us.

2009-2010 will be a year of economic uncertainity and challenges to community leadership on all levels. As masons we have to answer such challenges--and the answer must be, "yes, I am up to it." Having said that, I look forward to fellowship and enjoyment as we celebrate those things which should never change: family, brotherhood, and social responsibility. One of my key concerns for this this masonic year is attention to the infrastructure of the Lodge. I ask the question of myself repeatedly, "What haven't we been doing that we should be doing?" and "What business do we keep putting off for another day?" We are blessed with an exceptional flow of new members and wonderful candidates, but if we do not take care of the businesss which is the foundation of the Lodge structure, our new master masons and candadates for the other degreees will NOT have that foundation to build upon and that is hardly fair to them.

Again, I want to remind all of you my theme of the Three Pillars of Masonry. Our Past Masters are our wisdom, our current officers are our strength, and our general membership represents the hope which is the beauty of Alamo Lodge. These pillars are an essential part of the design which we need to take Alamo Lodge # 44 through the 21st century and beyond. Some members have to play multiple roles in our structure--and that is fine, but no part of ANY pillar is unimportant. We have valid differences of opinion, but we need God's help in recognizing that such differences are not necessarily differences of principle. If we only remember this, our individual and collective zeal for masonry will take care of the rest.

I look forward to this incredible experience and ask your help in making this a year of hope and one of the best of good fellowship.

Fraternally,

Lawerence McNamee, W M
